Photo Enhancement App Meitu Rolls Out Exclusive Features for Songkran

Meitu Inc. (Meitu), publisher of the Chinese photo enhancement app Meitu, has rolled out new AR effects, frames and stickers exclusively for Songkran, the Thai New Year’s festival. The new features are available for download until April 30.

The Meitu App has released three new AR effects, four frames, two conversation bubbles and six stickers (Link to download: :, so users who can’t physically participate in the Songkran festivities can still get a sense of the experience by applying the frames and filters to their photos in the app or taking selfies with the Songkran AR effects. The new features are exclusively designed for Songkran Festival – also known as the water-splashing festival – where people pour and splash water on one another in the hope of washing away one’s sins and bad luck.

The new effects are part of the Meitu plan for the Southeast Asia market. “Southeast Asia is an important market for Meitu’s overseas expansion,” said Xinhong Wu, founder and CEO of Meitu. “Meitu will continue to roll out more localized features, effects, and activities in the region to bring local users enhanced user experiences.”

Meitu has also launched an Instagram campaign to celebrate the festival.
