The Japan-born watchmaker “Seiko” is still optimistic on its legendary products no matter how the consecutive growth of digital watches, whose prices are under 30,000 Baht, is increasing in the market. The Japanese watch brand keeps focusing on hi-end clients who pay loyalty to meticulously classic watch.
The company is fully penetrating Thailand’s hi-end watch market more with the push of “Grand Seiko” while overhauling distribution channel by renovating “Seiko Boutique” located on M floor of The Emporium department store and launching newest three branches at Paragon, Central Chidlom and Central Plaza Ladprao department stores.
Katsumi Kubota, Seiko Thailand, the official distributor of Seiko and Alba watches, managing director, said revealed that the coming up digital devices and Internet of Things (IoT) is the main factor that disrupted watch industry, especially the watches that cost under 30,000 baht, because the digital watches are so intelligent that they can do everything apart from displaying only time and there are increasing demands thanks to convenience for people todays.
According to the disruptive technologies, the watch market among Asian region is changing fast and steadily and this also ignited many legendary watches makers to be aware more of the coming of digitalisation that truly affects their business. Seiko is now ready to fight against the intense competition and the company believes “Grand Seiko” will be much stronger in terms of exposure and brand awareness thanks to its originality that established since 1960.
Mr Kubota also said that Thailand is one of the most important markets that helps shape Seiko’s business direction because Thailand is the leading Seiko watches importers among Asian countries and there is very high potential for market expansion as the growth rate continues to increase every year in terms of quality and figure. Seiko then foresees the importance of Thailand market and the company is making more footprints in the country.
Mr Kubota said Seiko Thailand’s business strategy will be focused on cementing its positioning of hi-end watch maker by representing “Grand Seiko” which reflects the innovative technologies and cutting-edge design with quality proven which made Grand Seiko to be renown globally.
”The company is launching new policies for overall business operation to officially distribute “Grand Seiko” in Thailand while renovating Seiko Boutique located on M floor of The Emporium department store and launching newest three branches at Paragon, Central Chidlom and Central Plaza Ladprao department stores, these stores are expected to open within July.” Mr Kubota said.
Mr Kubota also said that Seiko will tap more into Thais’ behaviour on consuming more Japanese products especially watches as Thais love travelling to Japan, the country welcomed more than 1 million Thai people in the first half of this year, by making more exposure on launching more products, distribution channels.
