SIAM KUBOTA partners with Greyhound Original to launch an eco-friendly clothing collection from ‘Rice Straw Fibers’:
Kubota X Greyhound Original Present ‘Turn Waste to Agri-Wear’.”

SIAM KUBOTA and Greyhound Original have joined hands to launch the KUBOTA x GREYHOUND ORIGINAL PRESENT ‘Turn waste to Agri-Wear’ campaign which upcycles agricultural waste material like rice straw. The campaign also seeks to support Thai research and woven textile, transforming it into stylish streetwear, with the goal of sparking the trend of upcycling and sustainable fashion, fostering eco-consciousness for a better world, and advancing the Thai fashion industry. Green-minded fashion lovers can check out the latest exclusive collection today at Greyhound Original.

Mr. Phisanu Milintanuch, Vice President – General Manager of Sales, Marketing and Services Manager, SIAM KUBOTA Corporation Co., Ltd., said, “Currently, the world is facing various crises, from climate change, air pollution, and growing amounts of waste every year, all the way to the impact from agricultural burning. Environmental issues are therefore a critical concern for people around the world to tackle and address. At SIAM KUBOTA we believe that everyone in the world plays an important role in driving change. As a long-standing companion to the Thai people for more than 46 years, we have been delivering cutting-edge, innovative farming technology and machinery, along with know-how, while creating career and income opportunities for farmers and communities. All this is done with a focus on sustainability within the framework of sustainable organizational development and ESG.”

We also prioritize take into account our responsibility towards society and the environment across our business cycle, with the goal of becoming an “Essential Innovator For Supporting Life” and empowering the Thai agricultural sector to achieve net-zero emissions and carbon neutrality across all dimensions.”

“Rice is the main economic crop of the country and takes up the largest farming area. This results in a large amount of rice straw, which is an agricultural waste material, and its disposal by burning causes environmental impacts. With this in mind, we tried to seek new ways to manage this agricultural waste material to create added value apart from using it for livestock, composting, and biomass fuel production. We then discovered a research project titled “Innovative Rice Straw Fiber Blended with Silkworm Cocoon Fibers for the Development of Textiles for Lifestyle Fashion Products: A Case Study of Khawao Sinrin Subdistrict, Khawao Sinrin District, Surin Province.” This project was conducted by Professor at the Faculty of Agricultural Science and Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Surin Campus, in collaboration with a rice farmer and silkworm farmer group in Khawao Sinrin Subdistrict, Khawao Sinrin District, and a women’s weaving group in Thap Noi Subdistrict, Rattanaburi District, Surin Province.”

“Inspired to make this concept a reality in a sustainable way, we began seeking out partners with the same vision and shared ideas with Greyhound Original, a Thai brand with distinctive street-style clothing designs that has always placed great emphasis on sustainability. This has led to the KUBOTA x GREYHOUND ORIGINAL PRESENT ‘Turn Waste to Agri-Wear’ campaign, a new phenomenon that bridges the agricultural sector with the fashion world,” said Mr. Phisanu.

Mr. Pakin Penpakkul, Chief Executive Officer, Mud and Hound Public Company Limited, said, “The fashion industry is among the world’s top waste and pollution generators as clothing production requires extensive resources. In addition, chemicals are used throughout the bleaching and dyeing processes, and a significant amount of fabric waste is produced as a result of cutting and sewing. Therefore, at Greyhound Original, we seek to promote transformation towards eco-fashion by prioritizing the entire life cycle of every product, from material selection, production, distribution, usage, to disposal. To achieve sustainable fashion, we have introduced the Green Label product line, identifiable by the green tag attached to the clothing. The Green Label clothes are made from recycled fabrics, such as recycled plastic bottles, organic cotton, or from existing fabric stock to lower new fabric production. This not only reduces waste and chemical use but also maximizes the utilization of existing resources.

“The collaboration with SIAM KUBOTA on the KUBOTA x GREYHOUND ORIGINAL PRESENT ‘Turn waste to Agri-Wear’ collection is a partnership between two companies from different industries. However, we share the same goal of contributing to society. For this project, we have designed and produced unisex streetwear clothing that appeals to eco-conscious younger generations, featuring freehand and silhouette patterns embroidered in a handicraft style onto fabrics constructed with modern craftsmanship. We’ve also added another dimension to it by incorporating organic cotton and recycled fabric into the designs,” said Mr. Pakin.

“We believe that fashion is accessible to everyone. This collection reflects our tremendous dedication and pride in making changes for the environment and sustainability. Moreover, by purchasing products from this collection, everyone is contributing to the restoration and conservation of natural resources and the environment for the agricultural sector as a portion of the proceeds after expenses will be donated to the Thailand Environment Institute. In the future, SIAM KUBOTA will continue to build on ideas centered around sustainability and promote the upcycling of agricultural waste, such as rice straw or other crop residues to create added value for various products. This effort aims to reduce environmental pollution caused by the burning of agricultural waste, in accordance with the principles of the circular economy. As an organization, we are committed to giving back to society and fostering sustainability,” concluded Mr. Phisanu.
