D.I.Y. Thailand, in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), organized a forest plantation activity as part of the One Million Trees Planting Project. Over 50 employees, including company executives, participated in this initiative, contributing to the expansion of green space at Benchakitti Forest Park, with 800 perennial and royal-bestowed tree species donated together with products from MR. D.I.Y. stores worth over 53,000 baht. Additionally, MR. D.I.Y. donated 1,000 recycled plastic bottles to the Bangkok Magic Hands project to reduce plastic waste and protect workers by converting PET bottles into reflective safety garments. This activity was held to celebrate MR. D.I.Y.’s milestone of reaching over 800 stores in Thailand and reaffirms its commitment to supporting sustainable growth in Thai society as part of the MR. D.I.Y. Cares project.

Andy Chin, Chief Executive Officer of MR. D.I.Y. Thailand, joins the forest plantation activity.

Andy Chin, Chief Executive Officer of MR. D.I.Y. Thailand, said, “Throughout our eight years of operation in Thailand, MR. D.I.Y. has remained committed to operating with fairness and transparency, as well as being responsible to the community, society, and the country. As the leading home improvement retailer with the largest number of stores in Thailand, MR. D.I.Y. recognizes the importance of sustainability and is dedicated to achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050 and Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065, in line with Thailand’s policies.”

This year is another special one for MR. D.I.Y., as it marks the company’s expansion to 803 stores in 74 provinces across the country (as of June 2024). To celebrate this milestone, MR. D.I.Y. partnered with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to deliver 800 perennial trees and royal plants. The BMA and MR. D.I.Y. employees are together increasing the green space in Bangkok’s  Benchakitti Forest Park, which will help to absorb carbon dioxide and act as a dust shield for Thais. This also serves as a thank you to all MR. D.I.Y. customers throughout the country.

Arnupharp Kongmalai, Vice President of the Marketing Department at MR. D.I.Y. Thailand, donated over 1,000 recycled plastic bottles to Mr. Panuwatt Ontes, Director of the Waste Management Service division, Solid Waste and Sewage Office Management, Department of Environment, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

Arnupharp Kongmalai, Vice President of the Marketing Department at MR. D.I.Y. Thailand, said, “MR. D.I.Y. is committed to giving back to Thai society by supporting and standing alongside Thais to overcome every crisis and adapting to all economic conditions. We ensure that Thais have access to quality products at reasonable prices, and aim to be a central hub for providing assistance and support to the public and private sectors, as well as communities and individuals, enabling them to seize all opportunities for a better quality of life through the MR. D.I.Y. Cares project, which has been established for over six years. The donation of over 1,000 used plastic bottles is also one of our MR. D.I.Y. Cares activities and is a result of the cooperation of our employees, who are dedicated to promoting recycling, adding value, and creating benefits for society. The Bangkok Magic Hands project, initiated by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Environment Department, is another initiative we continuously support, which provides crucial support to the BMA’s staff, supplying them with safety uniforms while they perform their duties in maintaining the environment and communities for Thai society.”

D.I.Y. is committed to promoting sustainable growth through the MR. D.I.Y. Cares project by providing assistance, support, and care to Thais across all regions through a range of social activities covering environmental, social, and governance initiatives. These efforts include increasing green spaces and continuously supporting the quality of life for Thais nationwide.
