Electrolux inaugurates regional commercial hub in Bangkok

Electrolux Group today hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of its new regional commercial hub in Bangkok, Thailand.

Thailand is a leading market for the Group in the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) region, which positions the hub strategically as a gateway for commercial operations. The proximity to its Rayong manufacturing facilities and the fast-growing markets in Asia will enable the Group to strengthen its market presence and respond swiftly to market demands and consumer needs in the region.

The opening of the commercial hub underpins the Group’s commitment and proud 47-year partnership in the commercial growth story of Thailand where there are employment opportunities for an additional 130 regional roles in areas including marketing, product line and key support functions, with over 50 new roles in the new Bangkok hub. We are bringing Swedish innovation to life, with over 2,800 employees from 26 nationalities working in the Bangkok hub and Rayong factories.

“This is a significant milestone in the Group’s growth strategy, aligned with our vision to drive outstanding experiences in innovation and sustainability for our customers and consumers,”said Vitor Maia, Vice President of APMEA Commercial at Electrolux Group.

Alexis Richard, General Manager, Electrolux Thailand, said, “The opening of the commercial hub in Bangkok brings a sense of immense pride to our local team as recognition of the significance of Thailand in the APMEA region. In addition to our Rayong manufacturing facilities, we’re excited at the pivotal role we will play to drive profitable growth and create outstanding consumer experiences in Thailand.”

Positively impacting more than just commercial success and driving an ambitious sustainability agenda, here are some of the ways the Group is Shaping Living for the Better in Thailand and the world.

  • Our Rayong factories are Electrolux Group’s strategic manufacturing hubs, producing washing machines, dryers, refrigerators and gas and electric hobs for export to 56 countries worldwide and sold under 10 brands including Electrolux, Westinghouse, and Frigidaire.
  • In 2023, 25% of the energy used in our Rayong operations came from renewable sources, including solar energy. The factory is certified ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ meaning less than 1% of the factory waste goes to landfill.
  • The Rayong factories have replaced 133 diesel and LPG-fueled forklifts with lithium-ion electric forklifts, reducing the factory’s CO2 emissions by 500 tons per year: the equivalent of planting over 21,000 trees.
  • We strengthen our position as the leader in sustainable clothes care through the launch of our new Electrolux UltimateCare Range in 2024. It provides a rapid program washing a full load in just 45 minutes in a lower temperature (30 degrees). This makes everyday clothes last longer without additional energy or water usage. Additionally, our lightweight handstick vacuum cleaners are made of up to 70% recycled material.
  • Through our ‘Food Heroes’ workshops, an initiative of the Electrolux Food Foundation, we inspire local children to make more sustainable food choices and eat sustainably for a healthier planet.

Maia added, “With our newly established commercial set-up, Thailand is a key hub for Electrolux Group in the region. Focusing the regional capabilities and competencies within the Bangkok hub, we provide our employees a global working environment and career growth opportunities”.
