Devcon SEA 2024 to Be Hosted at QSNCC, Highlighting Southeast Asia as a Leading Hub for Blockchain Innovation
Devcon SEA 2024, the premier Ethereum event, will be held from November 12 – 15 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok. This landmark event underscores Southeast Asia’s growing role as a center for blockchain technology and innovation and is set to draw over 12,000 participants from around the world. By fostering collaboration and impactful connections, Devcon SEA aims to elevate the region’s developer and entrepreneur community while creating lasting social and economic benefits.
Ethereum, the leading programmable blockchain, has pioneered transformative applications that are redefining industries and promoting inclusivity worldwide. Devcon SEA will showcase Ethereum’s latest advancements, emphasizing its ability to drive transparency, security, and efficiency in various sectors through decentralized applications and smart contracts. This event reinforces Ethereum’s position as a driver of global change with the potential to reshape industries and support a more equitable world.
Attendees will gain insights from influential speakers, including the co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation,
Aya Miyaguchi, and other notable figures such as Matthew Tan of Etherscan, TN Lee of Pendle, and Loi Luu of Kyber Network. Community-led sessions will further enrich the event, exploring Ethereum’s real-world applications and interdisciplinary themes.
Skylar Weaver, the Devcon Lead at Ethereum Foundation commented, “We see tremendous potential in Thailand and Southeast Asia, with a large user base and skilled developer community. Hosting Devcon SEA in Bangkok will create an unparalleled opportunity for local developers and entrepreneurs to connect with the international Ethereum community. Building on the successes of the last two years of hard work and innovation, we’re committed to making this event our most impactful yet.”
With nearly 30% of attendees coming from Southeast Asia and South Asia—and 10% from Thailand alone—Devcon SEA will spotlight the region’s vibrant blockchain ecosystem. This offers a unique opportunity for local developers and entrepreneurs to connect with the global Ethereum community and foster new projects that will contribute to both local and international growth.
The Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok’s premier convention venue, will provide an ideal space for Devcon SEA’s largest gathering to date. “The QSNCC’s modern facilities and ample space provide the perfect environment for our attendees, which include developers, engineers, designers, and researchers,” added Weaver.
The event will feature six main stages, specialized workshop areas, and “Community Hubs” designed to facilitate discussions on topics ranging from governance and decentralized science to Layer 2 networks and more.
Surapol Utintu, Chief Executive Officer of QSNCC, stated, “Hosting Devcon 7 reinforces Thailand’s leading role in regional blockchain innovation while showcasing QSNCC’s capability to host world-class events. We are ready to welcome attendees from around the world and offer them an exceptional experience with our state-of-the-art facilities and signature Thai hospitality.”
On November 11, the Ethereum community in Southeast Asia will host EthSEA Day, a one-day event with $5 tickets, aimed at engaging both beginners and professionals. This day will feature workshops, talks, and panels led by key speakers, offering a platform for SEA communities to showcase achievements and strengthen their local and international ties. Devcon SEA 2024 marks a milestone in recognizing and celebrating Southeast Asia’s significant contribution to blockchain development. By bringing together the brightest minds in the field, this event will inspire innovation, deepen community bonds, and catalyze projects that resonate far beyond the region.
