The Masterpiece! ‘Central Ubon’ invites you to witness the exquisite beauty of the carved candle sculpture of ‘Phra Mae Thorani’ at the “Miracle of Candle 2024” from July 16th to 22nd, 2024.
Save the date: Starting today! Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival 2024, now in its 123rd year, is underway. Central Pattana plc, the operator of Central Ubon Shopping Center, in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) office Ubon Ratchathani, to create a vibrant and unique celebration. Moving forward to create vibrancy and revive the unique tradition of the Candle Festival, while supporting the Soft Power policy initiative of the government to elevate local culture to a world-class festival. Join us in becoming a destination that welcomes Thai and global tourists alike. The 8th “Miracle of Candle 2024” event, under the concept “The Story of Phra Mae Thorani” will feature artist ‘Surachai Palasuk’ and young artists of international snow carving champions. This collaboration will showcase cross-expertise by blending belief, faith, and local essence into exquisite contemporary candle sculptures, using special techniques such as 3D foam and traditional candle dipping methods.
At the event, witness the 5-meter-tall of “Phra Mae Thorani” sculpture (The goddess of Earth or the mother nature in buddhist mythology), depicted squeezing her hair on a rocky cliff adorned with patterns imitating the Pha Taem cave paintings. Surrounded by a field of floating lotus flowers flowing from her hair, set against a backdrop simulating the morning sea of mist at Pha Chana Dai. Ubon Ratchathani, renowned for being the first place in Siam to see the sunrise, uses the colors of the first light to create Phra Mae Thorani’s attire, perfectly representing the faith, beauty, prosperity, and success of this enchanting ‘City of Lotuses’. Be amazed by the performance of ” Phra Sri Vasundhara, the goddess of Earth” and enjoy the charm of carved candle sculptures. Shop for local products and savor delicious local cuisine from July 16-22, 2024, at the Aquarium Plaza, 1st floor, Central Ubon Shopping Center.
In addition, Central Ubon shopping center, in collaboration with the Department of Transport, Ubon Ratchathani Province, provides parking facilities and public transport services for tourists to visit the spectacular Candle Festival procession at Thung Si Mueang.
