About Kasing Lung
Kasing Lung, an artist from Hong Kong, is the creator of The Monsters universe. He began his career as an illustrator for children’s picture books, with his first Chinese picture book titled “My Little Planet,” which was published in Taiwan. This work marked a significant milestone in his career. Subsequently, Kasing Lung transitioned to creating personal artworks and artistic illustrations. Currently, he produces large-scale drawings and expands his activities to art exhibitions and shows worldwide. In addition to solo exhibitions of his drawings and sculptures, Kasing Lung has received excellent responses from art collectors not only in Japan but from all corners of the globe. LABUBU is one of the characters he designed. Alongside LABUBU, there are Zimomo, Tycoco, Spooky, and Pato. LABUBU, however, stands out as the most renowned ambassador among Kasing Lung’s creations. Initially, LABUBU was depicted as slim and tall. However, after signing a contract with POP MART, Kasing Lung redesigned the characters to have a rounder, chubby appearance, as seen in their current form.
About LABUBU and The Monters
LABUBU is one of the characters from The Monsters series, originated by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung. Inspired by Nordic mythology, LABUBU’s character design features an elf-like female with sharp teeth, long ears, a small yet tall stature, which is not the typical rabbit as commonly perceived. LABUBU is known for her mischievous nature, kind heart, and penchant for helping others. Among the well-known LABUBU collections is THE MONSTERS – Tasty Macarons Vinyl Face Blind Box, distinguished by its unique design with soft fur and sweet-toned colors resembling popular confections.
