ayumi hamasaki Celebrates 27 Years with New Single “mimosa” and Asia Tour Kickoff
On 8 April, the 27th anniversary of her debut, the iconic ayumi hamasaki will release her highly anticipated new single, “mimosa”. The track serves as the theme song for the Fuji TV drama “Second to Last Love 続・続・最後から二番目の恋”, marking a significant milestone in her career as it is her first time in 25 years writing a theme song for a drama since her hit single “SEASONS” in 2000. “SEASONS” was featured as the theme song for the drama “Tenki Yohou no Koibito 天気予報の恋人”.
The release of “mimosa” also continues a remarkable collaboration between ayumi hamasaki and the “Second to Last Love” series, with the artist having provided theme songs for all three seasons: “how beautiful you are” in Season 1 (2012), “Hello new me” in Season 2 (2014), and now “mimosa” for the third and final season.
“I am truly honoured to have had the opportunity to provide the theme song once again, following how beautiful you are and Hello new me. Through the years, there are things that change and things that remain the same – this song reflects both sides of life that everyone experiences. I hope that this track can resonate with those who have followed the drama from the beginning, as well as those who are hearing it for the first time,” said ayumi hamasaki.
Composed by Kunio Tago, who has collaborated with ayumi hamasaki on many of her iconic tracks, including “Days” and “Key eternal tie ver..”, “mimosa” is a heartwarming anthem that encourages and uplifts listeners, providing support for life’s journey with its powerful yet gentle melody.
In addition to the single release, ayumi hamasaki will be kicking off her much-anticipated Asia tour, ayumi hamasaki ASIA TOUR 2025 I am ayu -epi.II- on 8 April in Japan.
